Paradox Museum has just opened its Bund branch in the heart of the Nanjing East Road pedestrian street — inside Central Plaza, a short walk from the Bund waterfront. It is a walk-through illusion museum: 50+ immersive paradox exhibits built around optical illusions, reversed rooms and hands-on trickery, designed to be photographed as much as looked at. It is a compact, one-hour-style stop rather than a half-day museum, which makes it an easy add-on between the Bund and Nanjing Road shopping.
One ticket covers everyone at the same price — adults and children pay the same ¥59 — and children under 1.0 m go in free with a ticket holder. The ticket is buy-and-use: no advance booking, no exchange at a counter, just show the voucher code at the door.

Good to know
- Open 10:00–20:00, last entry 19:20; usable any day of the week, including weekends and holidays
- The venue is indoors, in the basement level of the mall — the entrance is by the Goose Island (鹅岛) atrium, and first-time visitors do say it takes a moment to find
- Elderly visitors and anyone with limited mobility should bring a companion; the museum may turn away visitors who are clearly unwell or intoxicated
- Address: B1, Central Plaza, 123 Nanjing East Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai
What guests say
Only 2 merchant reviews so far — a new listing, and the two reviews disagree, which is worth knowing before you go:
“Really creative, the kids loved it.”
“The venue is inside the mall and hard to find. It was crowded when we went, staff couldn’t look after everyone, the space isn’t big — we were through it in a while, and at this price it didn’t feel worth it.”
Our take: at ¥59 this is a fun, photo-heavy hour for families with kids who like illusions; go early or on a weekday if you can, and do not plan a half-day around it.
